What it Costs

What happens if you decide to join Tudor Lodge?

You will be asked for certain membership fees. For new members these will include a one-off Lodge joining fee of £100.00 plus the current Registration fees for Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge. Joining members who are already registered with Grand Lodge pay a joining fee of £50.00.

What is the annual subscription levied by the Lodge?

The annual membership fee for Tudor Lodge for 2019 is £260.00. If joining part-way through a calendar year a pro-rata amount is paid based on the number of meetings left in the year. This membership fee includes the cost of dinner excluding drinks. If you invite any Masonic guests it is normal that, as their host, you may pay their dining fee of £22.00.

Lodges have a ‘dress code’

Members and Masonic guests wear a dark, usually black, lounge suit, white shirt, a black or Provincial tie and black socks and shoes. With the exception of a pair of white cotton gloves, other regalia need not be purchased for the first 12-18 months. Regalia can be purchased from masonic shops and through the Provincial Office which also offers the opportunity to buy second-hand regalia at lower cost.

From time to time, many Lodges have a special evening, or daytime event, specifically to raise money for charity. You will never be pressurized into attending them or to donate money at these events if you are unable to, or prefer not to. However, it is hoped that you will participate in the Lodge’s efforts to raise money for the various charities adopted providing it is within your means.

Interested in joining Freemasonry?

If you have any questions not answered here or want to discuss joining Tudor Lodge in Watford, please contact the Lodge Secretary via the Contact Form on the website. If you include a contact telephone number we can answer your questions on a more personal level. Arrangements can also be made to meet you socially to find out more about you, and to give you a chance to find out more about us.

We also advise that you talk to a family member, friend or colleague who you already know to be a Freemason. They will be able to explain to you what they can about the fraternity and help you find a suitable Lodge. If you don’t know anyone who is a Freemason and you would like more information on joining a Hertfordshire Lodge, please contact us with some information about yourself.

If you live in or want to join a Lodge in another part of Hertfordshire, The Provincial Grand Lodge of Hertfordshire can help you further, or contact the secretary of Tudor Lodge and we will transfer your inquiry to the appropriate person.
